The Australian Government will undertake a General Review with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia of the Indonesia–Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA). Review provisions are standard, built-in features of many of Australia’s free trade agreements, including IA-CEPA. The General Review will help to ensure the Agreement remains fit for purpose and continues to meet the needs of Australian businesses.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is now seeking views from stakeholders to inform the General Review. We are interested in hearing from stakeholders regarding the operation, implementation and impact of IA-CEPA since its entry into force, and areas for further improvement or expansion, including, but not limited to, consideration of deepening liberalisation and further expansion of market access.
Public submissions to inform the General Review are now open and will close on 31 March 2026. Input is welcomed from a wide range of stakeholders, including trade and investment exposed industries, state and territory governments, peak bodies and member organisations, research institutions, non-government organisations and the broader Australian community.
