Inviting public submissions to the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy

Category
Trade and investment

Business people or members of the public with an interest in enhancing trade and investment between Australia and Vietnam are invited to submit their comments and recommendations by 9 September, to help inform the development of the Australia Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy (the Strategy).

In 2019, Vietnam's Prime Minister His Excellency Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Australia's Prime Minister the Hon Scott Morrison MP agreed to develop the Strategy to solidify our shared commitment to trade and investment, liberalisation and economic connectivity, and help both countries take advantage of emerging market opportunities. A baseline economic analysis has already been completed.

The Strategy will provide recommendations to promote two-way trade, investment and other economic cooperation between the two countries and will focus on key sectors of current and future economic importance to both countries. The Strategy will include recommendations for measures to accelerate both countries' post-pandemic economic recovery.

Submissions of up to one page should be sent to vietnameconomicstrategy@dfat.gov.au before 9 September 2020.

Further information

The public submission process is contained in the Australia-Vietnam enhanced economic engagement strategy: Discussion paper for consultations.
