Australia – Papua New Guinea Bilateral Security Agreement: Entry into Force

Today, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of Australia and the Hon James Marape MP, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, announced the entry into force of the Agreement Between the Government of Australia and The Government of Papua New Guinea on a Framework for Closer Security Relations and released a Joint Statement.

The Agreement is a legally binding framework for closer security cooperation between Australia and Papua New Guinea. The Agreement elevates, broadens and modernises our longstanding security relationship, ensures consultation on security-related developments and allows us to work even more closely together to contribute to the region’s security.
