On 17-18 March 2018, the Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull will welcome the Leaders of the Member States of ASEAN and the Secretary-General of ASEAN to the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit. This will be the first time Australia has hosted a Summit with ASEAN Leaders in Australia. The Special Summit will mark a new era in our partnership. It will build on our deep legacy of economic cooperation, political dialogue, and the natural interweaving of our people to establish a contemporary, outward-looking partnership for the rapidly changing world we live in.
The Special Summit will strengthen our joint contribution to regional security and prosperity, including by addressing shared security challenges and securing greater opportunities for our businesses. Two important events will lead in to the Special Summit: a Business Summit and Counter-Terrorism Conference.
The Business Summit on 16-17 March will help Australian and ASEAN businesses with the know-how and connections needed to strengthen our economic partnership. It will be comprised of three events over two days, including a CEO Forum, SME Conference and a Women in Business Breakfast.
The Counter-Terrorism Conference on 16-17 March will underscore the fundamental importance of regional collaboration to address the shared challenges of terrorism and violent extremism.
