We are all committed to ensuring that our citizens, nationals and residents, employees, Afghans who have worked with us and those who are at risk can continue to travel freely to destinations outside Afghanistan.

Singapore and Australia Ministers met virtually for the 12th meeting of the Singapore-Australia Joint Ministerial Committee (SAJMC) on 27 August 2021. 

The Hon Dan Tehan MP, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Australia and Hon’able Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Food and Consumer Affairs and Textiles, India held a video conference on 26 August 2021.

Australia will deliver more than 400,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Vietnam this week, as part of the ongoing commitment to work together with our close friend and strategic partner.

The Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women, and Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, and the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Philippine Secretary of Trade and Industry, held the fifth Philippines-Australia Ministerial Meeting on 23 August 2021, amidst the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Australia has given regulatory approval for a commercial rocket launch to take place later this year from a newly licensed launch facility in South Australia.

We are deeply worried about Afghan women and girls, their rights to education, work and freedom of movement. We call on those in positions of power and authority across Afghanistan to guarantee their protection.

As in any crisis situation, the Australian Government’s priority is to ensure the safety of its citizens. We have over 130 Australians in Afghanistan, working in the UN, NGOs, and elsewhere, and we are working to bring them and their families home.

Given the deteriorating security situation, we support, are working to secure, and call on all parties to respect and facilitate, the safe and orderly departure of foreign nationals and Afghans who wish to leave the country.
