Minister for Tourism and International Education, Senator Richard Colbeck, welcomed the Tasmanian Government's free Wi-Fi initiative which was activated today.
"Free Wi-Fi hotspots will help boost the experience of visitors to the state. It will allow tourists to immediately share positive experiences and snapshots of their holiday online and on social media, broadcasting the state to the world," he said.
"Tasmania has world-class tourism experiences and many of these attractions are in regional and rural areas so it's great to see Wi-Fi hotspots being installed at these locations. I congratulate the Tasmanian Government on this fantastic announcement.
"This follows similar initiatives by other states around the country, including the roll-out of free Wi-Fi hotspots in Queensland under the Federal Government's Tourism Demand Driver Infrastructure programme."
