Australia's largest cultural program ever staged in South America, Australia now, was launched on 21 April in Brazil. Running until the end of May, an exciting and diverse program of 50 events across 10 major cities in Brazil is introducing thousands of Brazilians to contemporary Australian culture from Indigenous ceremony and dance to our excellence in music, theatre, food, film, visual arts and sport. In advance of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics this year, the festival will promote Australia as an exciting and dynamic country to visit and increase trade and investment. Brazil is Australia's largest trading partner in Latin America. Each year the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade delivers a cultural festival in a country of strategic significance. In 2017 the focus will be on Germany.
