
UN Security Council resolution 1970 on Libya

Foreign Minister Rudd has strongly welcomed the UN Security Council's adoption of resolution 1970, referring the situation in Libya to the International Criminal Court and imposing an arms embargo and targeted travel and financial sanctions against key Ghaddafi regime figures. The UN measures follow Minister Rudd's announcement of autonomous targeted financial sanctions and travel restrictions against key members of the Ghaddafi regime.

During a visit to New Zealand, Prime Ministers Gillard and Key signed a new bilateral Investment Protocol to make investment "simpler and cheaper, creating employment opportunities on both sides of the Tasman."
