In 2016-17, Australia will provide $3.8 billion in Official Development Assistance (ODA), with over 90 per cent of country-attributable ODA invested in the Indo-Pacific region. The Government has increased the Emergency Fund to $130 million to enable timely and effective responses to disasters and will provide up to $220 million over the next three years to address humanitarian needs in Syria and its neighbours hosting large numbers of refugees. Australia is helping to rebuild Fiji after Cyclone Winston and Vanuatu after Cyclone Pam in a way that minimises the impact of future disasters.
The 2016-17 Australian Aid Budget Summary provides a comprehensive overview of Australia's ODA in the year ahead, across our bilateral, regional and global programs and highlights our commitment to transparency in the aid program.
