Australia will provide $2 million to feed thousands of people affected by Typhoon Ketsana in the Philippines.
This assistance will be delivered through the World Food Programme.
This builds on the $1 million of assistance previously announced for water, food, sanitation services, immediate health care, shelter for displaced people in camps, and other essentials like clothes, tarpaulins, blankets and cooking utensils. This assistance is being delivered through the Philippines Red Cross and UN agencies.
Typhoon Ketsana – also known as tropical storm Ondoy – hit the island of Luzon in the Philippines on 26 September causing death, widespread damage and displacing hundreds of thousands of people.
