The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade today released the
publications, The APEC Region Trade and Investment and The APEC
Region Trade and Investment, Australian Supplement.
These publications detail APEC's trade in merchandise and
services, and summarise Australia's investment relationship with
other APEC members. Individual reports detail each members
merchandise trade by product type and country. The publications also
compare major economic indicators for each individual APEC member.
The publications highlight, among other things, that Australia
recorded it's largest ever merchandise trade surplus with APEC
members in 1996-97, during which the surplus rose by 25 per cent to
$6.8 billion.
Copies of the publications can be purchased, at a cost of $40, by
contacting Mrs Jane Monico on phone (02) 6261 3114, fax (02) 6261
