Media release from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
D17
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its Travel
Advice for Yemen, issued on 27 October 1994 and advises that owing to
the continued unsettled security situation in many parts of the country,
Australians who travel to Yemen or who are currently there should
exercise due care for personal security. The potential for political
instability throughout the country remains high. Due to the presence of
mines laid during the recent civil war, Australians are advised to avoid
off road travel.
Australians travelling to or who are currently in Yemen are urged to
register their presence with the Australian Embassy, Diplomatic Quarter,
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (telephone: 966 1 4887788).
