The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its Travel Advice for Somalia issued on 17 August 1994 and advises that while there has been an improvement in security in the country, banditry and sporadic outbreaks of fighting mean that Australians should consider deferring non-essential travel for the time being.

Australians who nevertheless do travel to Somalia are urged to seek advice on current developments from the Australian High Commission, Riverside Drive (400 metres off Chiromo Road), Nairobi (telephone 254-2-44 5034/39).
