The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade advises that due to the disturbances in PAPEETE, Australians should avoid all non-essential travel to French Polynesia until further notice.

Australians who nevertheless do travel to French Polynesia are urged to register their presence with the Australian Consulate-General 7/8th Floor, Immeuble Foch, 19 Rue de Marechal Foch, Noumea, New Caledonia (telephone 687 272214).

Australians currently in French Polynesia are urged to register their presence with the Australian Consul currently in Papeete, who can be contacted care of the Beachcomber Hotel (telephone 865110).
