The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its Travel Advice for Nigeria issued on 29 September 1994 and advises that there are continuing security problems in Nigeria, particularly at Lagos International Airport and environs.
Australian visitors should therefore exercise due care and maintain a high level of personal security awareness.
Intending business visitors should also be aware of the prevalence of commercial fraud in Nigeria and the potential physical dangers to themselves when dealing with the perpetrators of such crime.
Australians who decide to travel to Nigeria should keep themselves informed of developments and are advised to register with the Australian High Commission, 2 Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, telephone 234-1-2618875, facsimile 234-1-2618703.
