The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its Travel Advice for Lebanon issued on 21 September 1994 and advises that, while there has been a substantial improvement in security throughout most of the country, an element of unpredictability remains. In particular, intermittent fighting continues in Southern Lebanon and the Western Bekaa. Australian citizens travelling to Lebanon are urged to exercise due care and maintain a high level of personal security awareness.

Australians visiting or intending to visit Lebanon are advised to contact the Australian Embassy, Farra Building, Rue Bliss, Ras Beirut, Lebanon (Telephone (961-1) 868349 or 803342/-3, Fax 807548) or the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Canberra on (06) 261 9111 for advice on current developments.
