The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) is very proud
to be awarded the 2003 ANZAC Peace Prize by the RSL, in recognition of its
substantial contribution to international peace.

AusAID Director General Bruce Davis said:'It was a great honour for the
agency to receive the award and highlighted the tireless efforts of the
agency's staff in humanitarian emergencies and longer-term aid
activities.

'I would like to thank the RSL National President Major General Peter
Phillips AO MC for the recognition of AusAID's high quality work.
More importantly, I wish to thank the RSL for highlighting the contribution so
many Australians make to promoting peace and international goodwill,' Mr
Davis said.

'I would specifically like to add AusAID's voice of appreciation to
the seven exceptional Australians who have been awarded this year's ANZAC
of the Year awards.'

The Australian Government's overseas aid program actively engages in
building peace and investing in growth, stability and prosperity throughout
Asia and the Pacific, with a particular focus on development assistance in our
