The Australian Sanctions Office (ASO) undertakes outreach activities to improve the understanding of Australian sanctions laws among entities and individuals. Outreach is designed to encourage:

• increased awareness of Australia’s sanctions laws
• improved voluntary compliance with Australia’s sanctions laws
• increased information sharing between the ASO and the regulated community
• strengthened whole-of-government collaboration to enhance the effectiveness of sanctions.

ASO prioritises engagement activities using a risk-based approach, focusing on:

• sectors with higher exposure to sanctions risk
• responding to the changing geopolitical landscape
• enhancing compliance.
