Middle East conflict

The situation in the Middle East region remains volatile. There is still a risk of attacks and escalation. If you are in the region and want to leave, make plans to do so.

Australians in conflict-affected areas should:

  • prioritise your safety and follow local advice, including shelter-in-place instructions
  • monitor local and international media
  • register with DFAT, if eligible
  • stay in contact with your travel agent or airline about flights
  • make plans to leave if possible and safe to do so
  • follow Smartraveller for the latest travel advice.

If you need emergency consular assistance, contact the 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre:

  • +61 2 6261 3305 (overseas)
  • 1300 555 135 (in Australia).

The safety of all Australians, including our diplomatic staff overseas, is our priority. DFAT will continue supporting Australians through regular travel advice updates and consular assistance where we can.

Be aware that there are limits to how we can assist in a fast-moving, uncertain environment. The security situation may impact opening hours at Australian Embassies and Consulates in the region. Officials may be working from other locations.
