Establishing good financial habits in rural Cambodia

In Cambodia, CUFA's Children's Financial Literacy program educates young people on the importance of savings and helps them break-out of the cycle of poverty. It allows the children to build sustainable futures for themselves and their families. Financial literacy is all about being smart with money, making wise decisions about spending, savings, managing personal debt and planning for the future. Many children across the Asia-Pacific aren't taught these valuable lessons, so the cycle of poverty continues.

CUFA's children's financial literacy program provides the opportunity for children living in poverty to change their lives. The program includes in-school lessons, family visits, teacher training and digital interactive games. Since 2008, CUFA have provided more than 80,000 children with financial literacy training, educating them on the importance of saving and helping them build sustainable financial futures. The program works with some of the most vulnerable communities in the Asia-Pacific region, providing children with financial literacy lessons, to help them establish good savings habits and financial habits from a young age.

This project is led by CUFA and is funded through Australian Aid from the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP). In 2015-16 through the ANCP, Australian Aid supported 21 NGOs to deliver 39 projects in 16 countries focusing on education.
