Company: POLARIS

State: NEW SOUTH WALES

Sector: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Polaris Software, one of India's largest IT companies, commenced
operations in Australia in 1997, 14 years after being founded in Delhi.
Polaris' initial entrée into the Australian software market was through
its link with Citibank. Polaris provided Citibank software when it first
introduced ATMs to India and today services Citigroup in six continents.
The company's international business has grown to the point where its
current annual revenue is derived equally from three major regions: Asia
Pacific, United States and Europe and others.

Polaris' main Asian offices are in Sydney, Tokyo and Singapore. From
1997 to 2000, Polaris focused on introducing the Australian market to
international-standard Indian software and solutions, by providing a range
of software services to various Australian and multinational clients
working out of Australia.

Since 2000, Polaris has developed more complex interactions with
Australian firms and IT specific products for them. The company is
considering establishing a development centre in Australia similar to
facilities it has in India. In these development centres, Polaris develops
' mission critical' application software and provides high quality IT
solutions to several multinational clients.
