United Nations Commission for Indonesia held first meeting January
29th. Commission adjourned to confer with Acting Chairman of
Netherlands [1] on Security Council resolution 28th January. [2]
Acting Chairman reported he had received no information from
Netherlands Government regarding resolution. Therefore, he said
Netherlands is not now in position to take any action in
compliance with resolution. During interview Commission informed
acting Chairman of receipt of letter from Republican Delegation
reporting that Republican delegation press officer and a member of
Republican Ministry of Information arrested 28th January by
Netherlands authorities in Batavia. Acting Chairman Netherlands
will immediately seek information on arrests and inform commission
as soon as possible.
