Description

This documents details the goals, objectives, activities, analysis, monitoring and evaluation framework and budget for the UNICEF Pacific Child Protection Multi-country Programme 2011–2012.

The proposal states that the Child Protection Programme's goal is to reduce violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of children in Pacific countries. It focuses on the following priority countries (based on social, demographic and economic indices):

  • Tier 1: Kiribati, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands
  • Tier 2: Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji Islands, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa and Tuvalu
  • Tier 3: Cook Islands, Niue, Nauru, Palau, Tokelau and Tonga.

Expected results by the end of 2012 are that children will be:

  • protected by legislation and better served by justice systems that safeguard their rights and well-being as victims, offenders and witnesses
  • protected and well-served by effective children's social services for dealing with violence, abuse and exploitation
  • increasingly free from violence, abuse and exploitation in safe homes and communities.
