Summary of publication

This document is the Quarterly Progress Report (October-December 2010) for Tertiary Health Services to Pacific Island Countries.

This document includes reports on clinical services and training provided by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons during October to December 2010. Activities included on-the job training and the following surgeries in Fiji:

• plastic and reconstructive surgery at Lautoka Hospital 14–27 November: consultations with 103 patients and operations on 53 for cleft lip, cleft palate, burns and other conditions
• paediatrics surgery at Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva 8–12 November 2010: consultations with 21 patients and operations on 10 for urology and neonatal emergencies
• neurosurgery at Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Suva 18–29 October 2010: consultations with 71 patients and operations on 11 for brain tumours.
