Summary of publication
DFAT's Sri Lanka Community Forestry Program (AUD 4.9 million, 2011-16) sought to improve the management of natural resources to support livelihoods and contribute to poverty reduction in the dry and intermediate zones of Sri Lanka. It involved communities in forest management so as to improve forest cover and reduce deforestation and degradation.
The Independent Completion Report (ICR) independently assesses the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the Community Forestry Program, and identifies broader lessons learned on the community forestry approach. It considered the impact of the program on gender equality and the likely sustainability of its effects.
