Summary of publication
This document reviews Phase 1 of the South Asia Water Initiative. Key findings are that:
- regional processes need to be connected to national policy development and implementation
- the political economy of regional policymaking and deliberation on how to manage, develop, utilise and protect the shared waters of the major river basins of the Himalayas need to take centre stage within SAWI
- knowledge gained under the program needs to be developed and applied within deliberative processes at a policy level throughout the region.
