Description

This Restructuring Paper outlines the proposed changes to the Tonga Transport Sector Consolidation Project (TSCP) seeks approval from the executive directors of The World Bank to increase funding.

The proposed restructuring would:

  1. Increase project financing to include new funds made available by the Government of Australia and coordinated through the Pacific Region Infrastructure Facility (PRIF).
  2. Modify the project activities and costs to better target current government strategies and priorities, particularly related to maritime safety and new investments in road maintenance.
  3. Revise the project development objective (PDO) to reflect the project's new activities.
  4. Extend the closing date from December 31, 2011 to December 31, 2013, primarily to allow sufficient time to undertake the new civil works activities.
