Research into the Financing of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Pacific

DFAT recognises that improving the quality of education in Pacific Island countries demands sound information on existing education programs. To this end DFAT funded a major research program, implemented by Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) from April 2012 to late 2014: "Research into the Financing of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Pacific".

The project has compiled comprehensive reports on TVET financing systems in seven Pacific Island Countries: Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and PNG.

Four overview papers have subsequently been developed from the research that provide concise data on TVET financing in Pacific Island Countries.

Together, these documents provide data that is essential to informing effective national and regional post-secondary education policies in the Pacific. This data is of value not only to government officials and donors in the education sector, but also to officials and policy makers in the industry development and trade and labour market fields, with specific implications for departments of finance.
