Description
This document summarises progress during the April–June 2011 start-up phase, and describes planned activities under the Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access Program 2011–2012 including country-specific priorities and activity summary sheets for 39 activities during the year.
The plan notes that, despite delayed mobilisation, good progress was made in the three-month start-up stage and the program is largely on track. Key achievements included the establishment of the Program Management Office in Suva and other country offices, three program launches, and establishment and initial work by market access working groups to determine and manage country-level activities. Progress under the fourth program component, regional support through the Secretariat of Pacific Community, was limited by slow recruitment of required staff.
Priorities for 2011–12 include further strengthening the market access working groups, implementing 39 country-specific and regional market access activities, including ten in Fiji, consolidating program management, and recruitment and management of staff in the Secretariat of the Pacific community to provide market access information and policy support.
