Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH): mid-term review, June 2011

Summary of publication

This is the independent mid-term review of the Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH) program, delivered by WaterAID. Program monitoring data indicate that the WASH coverage target of 22,400 is likely to be exceeded by around 6,500.

The quality of technical work seen during field visits was generally good, and that the promotion of community-led sanitation projects is leading to a demand for these services in other communities. The review recommends that WaterAid increase its community level monitoring support to NEWAH and to provide specialist advice on program learning products.

It also recommends that WaterAid resume its seat on NEWAH's procurement committee and that an independent technical expert also be invited to serve on this body.
