This Management Response provides the Government of Australia's response to the recommendations from the 2013 Papua New Guinea medical supply reform evaluation. The Australian Government agrees with the six recommendations, which reflect our views on their ongoing relevance to achieve the Government of PNG's medical supply reform plan objectives. They do not specifically reflect Australian Government required actions or responsibilities. Although the Australian Government will not support distribution of medical supply kits during 2014-16, we intend to continue support to strengthening procurement systems (including establishing an independent health procurement authority), drug quality testing, rolling out a new electronic logistics management information system, and upgrading area medical stores. Program management actions in response to the recommendations are further outlined.
