Technical assistance for Lao National Integrated Water Resources Management Support Project: Mid-Term Review Report

Summary of publication

The mid-term review of ADB's technical assistance for the Laos National Integrated Water Resources Management Support Project ($3.2 million, 2010-15) was completed in February 2013. The Project was one of several investments under the Mekong Water Resources Program.

Through funding provided to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), this investment supported the Government of Laos, via the Water Resources Environment Administration (WREA) and the National University of Laos (NUOL), to implement the Project.

The goal of this support was to enable WREA to provide effective leadership in water resources decision-making, and NUOL to offer quality tertiary education for water resource management professionals. This would be achieved by 2015 by: 1) building national capacity in integrated water resources management; 2) improving river basin management; 3) preparing a national groundwater management action plan; and 4) strengthening of integrated water resources management education at the NUOL.
