Land Sector Framework 2009-18

Summary

Guide for government, the private sector and civil society in using and managing Vanuatu's land resources.

Description

The Land Sector Framework coordinates all stakeholders and services to create 'a prosperous, equitable and sustainable land sector for Vanuatu'. It prioritises actions and resources to: enhance governance of land; engage customary groups; improve delivery of land services; create a productive and sustainable land sector; and ensure access and tenure security for all groups. The framework says four principles will guide stakeholders and policy makers: management of land resources must comply with social and economic objectives; stewardship of land resources must guarantee environmental sustainability; land agencies must be relevant, cost effective, efficient and sustainable; and planning, implementation, decision making and monitoring of activities must be participatory, transparent and accountable to protect the interests and rights of all stakeholders.
