Activity Proposal from the Universities of Western Australia and Queensland to establish the International Mining for Development Centre.

Description

Activity Proposal seeks $31 million to support developing countries to better manage their mineral resources to contribute to broad-based, sustainable economic development. This is by providing training, research and technical advice in the areas of: governance and regulation; community and environmental sustainability; and operational effectiveness. Over 4 years, it is proposed that the Centre will (amongst other outputs): provide approximately 1,780 participants with targeted short course training; provide approximately 24 intensive three month fellowships in Australian institutions; and produce up to 33 practical guides and tools tailored for individual developing countries.
