Summary
This is a 'how-to' guide for AusAID staff on the integration of disaster risk reduction, climate change and environment into development and humanitarian programs. (2010, 29pp)
Description
Responding to climate change and managing the impacts of environmental degradation and natural disasters are growing global challenges. They place increasing pressure on poor people's livelihoods and hard earned development gains of recent decades. As a result, there is an increasing need to ensure that AusAID integrates climate change and environmental issues into the aid program.
Integration in practice is a 'how-to' guide for AusAID staff on the integration of disaster risk reduction, climate change and environment into development and humanitarian programs. It is a short and practical tool that responds to staff requests for advice on what integration actually means for different sectors.
The 2010 publication includes case studies of AusAID programs that are effectively integrating these issues and then a short list, by sector, of other ways that disaster risk reduction, climate change and environment could be integrated.
