Summary

This is the design document for a multi-disciplinary river basin resource management program in the Hindu Kush-Himalayas with a focus on the Koshi river basin in Eastern Himalayas covering parts of China, Nepal, and India. (2012, 41pp)

Description

The goal of the river basin resource management program is to contribute to inclusive poverty reduction and enhanced resilience to climate change by securing and sustaining freshwater ecosystem services through evidenced-based decision-making and transboundary cooperation.

Two phases are envisaged: Phase 1 will comprise a four-year core basin program and Phase 2 will be designed in Year 3 and implemented beginning in Year 4 to act on emerging issues and key findings through a program of research.
