Government of Vanuatu Annual Development Report 2010

Summary

Government of Vanuatu's annual report on progress in implementing national development priorities and policies in the seven areas of development highlighted in the Priorities and Action Agenda 2006-2015 and the Planning Long and Acting Short matrix.

Description

The Annual Development Report provides four pages of economic, social and governance highlights in Vanuatu in 2010 to show development progress in Vanuatu during 2010. The report's foreword notes that 'it is still a challenge to obtain meaningful and reliable data from line ministries and various national institutions' and this is evident in the report. Most of the report is structured around the seven headings in the Priorities and Action Agenda, covering: the economy, private sector development and employment, resources and the environment, governance and public sector reform, basic services and social development, education and human resources, and infrastructure and utilities. Each section reports implementation status compared with the Planning Long and Acting Short matrix (including a summary table). The report includes case studies to illustrate progress with the Recognized Seasonal Employer Policy, and the Universal Primary Education Policy.
