Fiji Market Development Facility: Implementation Report June to December 2011

Summary of publication

This document is an update on progress of the Market Development Facility in the first six months, updated annual 2011-12 work plan and detailed plan for January to June 2012. The document notes:

  • during the first six months the contractor established management arrangements and procedures for finance, operations, fraud prevention, security, risk management and procurement
  • there was further work to recruit and manage staff
  • the Independent Advisory Group reviewed the facility's plans and management arrangements and was satisfied overall
  • the advisory group requested action to address:
    • pressures on the facility to expand too far, too fast
    • proper resourcing of the core program team and country implementation teams
    • communication between the department and the facility managers
    • approval procedures.

The report outlines steps to address these and other issues in the next six months.
