Summary
Investigates the role economic incentives and disincentives play in explaining the low quality of Indonesian policy research.
Description
This study investigates whether economic incentives play a significant role in explaining the low quality of Indonesian policy research. Economic aspects covered include the demand side – parties who request and/or use the research results – and the supply side – domestic research organisations and individual researchers working in them. Policy recommendations are classified into three parts: supporting individual researchers, supporting research organisations, and increasing demand for high-quality research at the base and applied knowledge levels.
