Summary of publication
This document is a Design Framework for Government of Australia support to the justice sector in East Timor. The mission was conducted collaboratively with the Government of East Timor and the United Nations Development Programme. The document describes the context and constraints to the effective functioning of the justice system in East Timor. It analyses options for Government of Australia support before proposing a Facility which will work to strengthen corporate management and administrative capacity within core justice sector institutions and strengthen the capacity of civil society to demand improved access to justice for vulnerable groups. It also proposes the engagement of a Senior Justice Sector Adviser.
