Summary of publication

This independent desk review surveyed human exposure to wildlife in Lao PDR and assessed the risks from such exposure in terms of people being infected with emerging diseases with pandemic potential.

The review identified four main areas where people are exposed to wildlife in Lao PDR, namely:

• subsistence hunting and consumption
• domestic trade
• international trade
• habitat sharing between people and animals.
