Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BEAM-ARMM) Component 1a—Early Childhood Education (project with UNICEF): Annual report 1 May 2011 to 30 April 2012

Summary of publication

The Annual Report on the Implementation of "Tahderiyyah" provides an overview of the outcomes of the project and the benefits achieved from the period 1 May 2011 to 30 April 2012.

This is the second Annual Report of the "Tahderiyyah" (Islamic Pre-school) implementation in conflict-affected communities in ARMM. The Highlights of this Report include:

  1. 300 Tahderiyyah (islamic preschools) implementing an appropriate and cultural sensitive curriculum benefitting 10,347 children
  2. Department of Education developmed a similar Madrasah Kindergarten curriculum and pilot tested this enriched curriclum in 139 public schools and 60 private Madaris
  3. Improved awareness of the importance of early childhood education and encouraged parents to enrol their children in preschools
  4. Rapid Registration of children progressed with 566 children registered in core areas of the 21 base Commands
  5. 180 out of 210 community data gatherers received training on the Action Plan and developed skills and processes for rapid registration.
