Bangladesh Aid Program Performance Report 2015-16

Summary of publication

This report summarises the performance of Australia's aid program to Bangladesh over the period of July 2015 to June 2016.

In 2015-16 Australia's total official development assistance budget to Bangladesh was $57.5 million.

This report summarises the progress of Australia's aid program to Bangladesh against two objectives focused on education and economic resilience. Australia's assistance continued to support poverty reduction and build economic growth, with an overarching focus on gender equality and women's economic empowerment, in line with the Bangladesh Government's development objectives. Whilst Australia's aid program to Bangladesh is significant, it is small relative to the size of Bangladesh's own economy. As a result, Australia seeks to be catalytic and add value to Bangladesh's own efforts in reaching upper middle income status by 2021.
