Summary of publication
This document provides the justification and planned approach to design the second stage of assistance to the Australia Pacific Technical College.
The concept note proposes that the Australia Pacific Technical College maintain its role of providing Australian technical qualifications across the Pacific to improve the employability of graduates and the quality of the labour pool nationally, regionally and internationally. It recommends that the college be improved and streamlined to:
- expand its reach and course offerings
- become more responsive to demand
- become more effective in meeting its goals
- provide industry-relevant training at reasonable cost.
The note highlights the need for the college to graduate to a regional training institution, recommending that this be pursued separate to the design for Stage II. It recommends a small-scale design exercise, mainly based in Australia, considering the extensive foundation established in Stage I.
