This is an Asian Development Bank design document describing the context and rationale behind the Health Human Resource Sector Development Program.
The program aims to improve Vietnam's health systems by reforming the health workforce to deliver better health outcomes for Vietnam.
The program will improve coordination in the health sector and ensure its workforce is appropriately qualified and held to high performance standards.
The program is introducing new quality accreditation systems to 50 new hospitals, placing 1500 health professionals from central and provincial institutions in rural areas, and ensuring that 50 per cent of doctors and nurses participate in continuing education programs.
