According to the latest report released by the Economic Analytical Unit,
Asia's Infrastructure in the Crisis – Harnessing the Private Sector
,
US$1 trillion is needed for infrastructure development in the Asian
region over the next decade. This infrastructure demand along side
forecasts of Asia's economic recovery and new reforms has created
enormous opportunities for Australian business. However, lack of
transparency and financial market restructures are just two of the many
challenges facing Asian governments in its efforts to attract private
investors back into the region.

This occasion will feature a panel discussion on the main findings of
the Economic Analytical Unit' s report, by author, Dr Frances Perkins
and a leading business expert, Mr Chris Tonkin.

The Economic Analytical Unit in the Department of Foreign Affairs and
Trade has established itself as an expert on East Asian issues and
events. Its reports and publications cover a wide range of areas and
provide pertinent insight into changes in the region. Copies of Asia's
Infrastructure in the Crisis – Harnessing the Private Sector
will
be available for $39.95 at the seminar.
