HIC members again commended the Government of PNG's achievements in strengthening TB treatment and management in Western Province since the last HIC meeting. In particular, members noted progress in implementing the main recommendations of the independent risk assessment by Associate Professor McBryde, such as the recruitment of an additional dedicated TB doctor and construction of a new, purpose-built TB isolation ward at Daru Hospital, supported by AusAID.
