Australia’s support for mine action in Afghanistan: design summary and implementation document

Summary of publication

This document sets out the design and implementation details of Australia's support for mine action in Afghanistan over the financial years 2010–11 to 2014–15.

The $20 million program will be delivered through the United Nations Mine Action Service commencing in April 2011.

The program is part of the Australian Government's Mine Action Strategy for the Australian Aid Program, the goal of which is to reduce the threat of socioeconomic impact of landmines, cluster munitions and other explosive remnants of war.

This document summarises the rationale for Australia's participation, the proposed program and pertinent issues.
