The AECSP ($26.53 million, 2009-2018) provides technical assistance and capacity building to developing ASEAN countries to support their implementation of the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand FTA (AANZFTA). The AECSP is implemented by the Economic Cooperation Work Program (ECWP) and AANZFTA Support Unit, located in the ASEAN Secretariat. The 2014 Annual Review found that the program aligns well with the AEC Blueprint, and is consistent with Australia's trade and economic diplomacy interests. Implementation of the AANZFTA Agreement has been advanced through the program, and the capacity and confidence of less developed ASEANs to participate in trade related negotiations has been enhanced. ASEAN Member State officials recognise AECSP as their preferred model of economic cooperation to support FTAs.
