Mr David Charlton
Mr David Charlton was appointed as Australia’s fourth resident High Commissioner to Tuvalu in 2024.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Charlton most recently served as Executive Director of the Australia - Pacific Partnerships for Aviation Program (P4A) in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra.
Mr Charlton was also Director, Pacific Aviation Section, and Acting Head of Mission at the Australian High Commission in Kiribati in early 2023.
Mr Charlton’s career includes industry and non-government, and military service in the Middle East, Solomon Islands, and domestic support. He was awarded a CDF commendation for Middle East Service and a Commendation for the Solomon Islands. He was Commanding Officer of the Fourth/Third Battalion, the Royal New South Wales Regiment (2018-2020) and currently holds the rank of Colonel.
